Why I am a Family Dentist in Latham

By Michael J. Maloney DDS

Latham was a logical location for my dental practice.  Having been raised less than 2 miles from my office on Troy Schenectady Road, the area feels like home.  I think of myself as being quite fortunate in truly enjoying my profession.  I have the opportunity to get to know many different, great people as patients that I also get to call my friends.  I appreciate the continual advances in the field of dentistry and incorporate those that benefit my patients.

Having received my Bachelors in Science from Siena College, my Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the State University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine with thesis honors and completed a General Practice Residency in Dentistry at St. Clare’s Hospital in Schenectady.  I then worked as an associate for three and a half years. It was in 1994 that I decided to establish a practice focused on my patients needs and concerns in Latham.  The facility was compact until the expansion in 2005 which saw a growth and modernization into the office you see today.  With a keen eye on advancements in the dental field, most recently we have expanded our computer network and integrated digital radiographs (x-rays).  Never losing our focus on each individual patient, we treat our patients the way we would like to be treated.  We value our patients and know their time is just as valuable as our time.  We pride ourselves in seeing our patients at their scheduled times with very few exceptions.  We give our individual attention to each patient, allowing ample time to treat their needs.  It’s a great relationship, we appreciate their time, they appreciate our time.  One of the beautiful facets of dentistry is that you almost always have options.  We will review your concerns, detail your options, including benefits and risks for each, and be non-judgmental of any decision you make.  My staff and I look forward to seeing you and taking care of your concerns.

Don’t Wait for a Toothache to Call

You might think –Why go to the dentist, nothing hurts?  Well, if you wait until it hurts, your options usually are more limited and more expensive.  Prevention is the best policy.  There are many benefits to keeping your teeth, gums and entire mouth healthy.  Studies have shown connections between bacteria in periodontal (gum) disease and heart disease.  You feel better about yourself and your appearance when your teeth look healthy and you like to smile.  It never ceases to amaze me how often a person is seen as being grumpy or unhappy because they are not smiling; when the reason why they are not smiling is due to they are ashamed of their teeth.  As soon as the problem is corrected and people see them smiling, their whole world changes.  People see them as being friendly and happy.
